Bringing Faith to Work: the Boldly Conference

Friday, I had the opportunity to attend the Boldly Conference, in Dallas. I’ve attended many conferences in various industries such as Information Technology, leadership, healthcare, and ministry, but this was my first conference focused on integrating faith and work. Unlike other events that hone in on skill-building, leadership strategies, or the latest trends in business, Boldly took a different approach by addressing something that is a passion for me, living out faith in the workplace.

Work and faith are typically compartmentalized—two parts of life that many believe should remain separate. But what if they didn’t have to be? I have seen firsthand how faith and work can coexist and even flourish together. I believe we can transform the marketplace by living out the Great Commission in our workplaces.

Matthew 28:19 instructs us to “make disciples of all nations,” this applies to our work lives as much as it does to our personal lives. We can bring faith into our offices, into meetings, and even into our daily interactions with colleagues. This isn’t just about evangelism—it’s about how we carry ourselves and the values we show through our actions.

Many of us feel a pressure to leave our faith at the door when we step into the office. There’s a misconception that professionalism and personal beliefs can’t overlap. Faith, when lived out at work, leads to a transformation in how we operate and interact with others. Galatians 5:22-23 speaks about the fruit of the Spirit, highlighting traits like patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. When we bring these characteristics into our work environments, we naturally reduce the things that often create toxic workplaces—discord, anger, competition, selfishness, and pride.

Imagine an office where kindness, rather than competition, drives interactions. Picture a team that shows patience and gentleness with each other, instead of resorting to anger or blame. This shift doesn’t just create a better experience for ourselves, but also for our colleagues and customers. When we choose to live out our faith in our jobs, we’re contributing to a larger goal: making God’s kingdom come, even in our workplaces.

The Boldly Conference featured many amazing speakers, each offering wisdom and practical advice on how to merge faith with work. Nikki Lawrence reminded us that God uses every moment for transformation. In the midst of the daily grind, it can be easy to forget that God is working, not just in our personal lives but also in our professional spaces. Lawrence’s message was a powerful reminder that God’s plans far exceed our own, and that He is always shaping us through our experiences at work, even when we can’t see it.

Breaking Up With Burnout - Peggy Bodde

Peggy Bodde led us through her framework for breaking up with burnout

Burnout is a topic that hits most of us, in her breakout, Peggy Bodde delivered a much-needed framework for overcoming burnout. In today’s high-pressure work environments, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and disconnected, even when you’re doing work that you enjoy. Peggy offered practical tools for recognizing burnout and overcoming it in a way that honors both our professional responsibilities and our faith. Her advice underscored the importance of rest, balance, and leaning on God’s strength rather than our own.

Integrating faith into our professional lives not only enhances our work experience, but also transforms those around us. Whether it’s being more patient in stressful situations or showing kindness to a difficult coworker, our actions can speak louder than words. Our leaders will see the difference in how we approach challenges. Our customers will notice the care and integrity we bring to every interaction. And our colleagues will experience an environment where people are genuinely looking out for one another, instead of merely competing for the next promotion.

If you’re a woman who is passionate about both your career and your faith, I highly recommend attending the Boldly Conference. It provides a space to reflect, learn, and connect with others who are on a similar journey. Whether you’re looking to deepen your understanding of how to live out your faith at work or seeking practical tools to overcome challenges like burnout, Boldly has something to offer.

Let’s stop compartmentalizing our faith and start living it boldly—both inside and outside the office. The world is watching, and we have the opportunity to make a difference.

As Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Let’s commit our work to God and trust that through this integration, we are helping to bring the kingdom here on earth, one workplace at a time.

(on a side note: I was personally excited to finally meet Kat Armstrong, Catherine Gates, and Peggy Bodde in person)
