coming soon……
In 2022, I set out on a journey that started with a simple idea but has turned into something more than I imagined. Writing The Sacred Cubicle has been a process full of late nights and early mornings, reflection and anticipation, joy and regret and lots of coffee shop visits. At times, words flew off the keyboards, other times I felt stuck, sometimes stretched, and many times vulnerable. But today, I’m excited! 49,000 words have officially been sent to the publisher.
Bringing Faith to Work: the Boldly Conference
Integrating faith into our professional lives not only enhances our work experience, but also transforms those around us. Whether it’s being more patient in stressful situations or showing kindness to a difficult coworker, our actions can speak louder than words.
waiting for growth: lessons from a forest fire
On October 3rd, after four long years of waiting, the trails at Chantry Flats in the Angeles National Forest finally reopened. For many, like myself, this is more than just the reopening of a favorite hiking spot—it’s the return of a place that represents peace, reflection, and personal growth.
say goodbye to low employee experience: create a culture of care and trust
When you invest in your people as human beings first, the impact will ripple throughout your organization. It’s a promise—with real, transformative results for both you and your team.
Unexpected Turns: RV Breakdowns and Workplace Resilience
There was a loud bang, and the RV veered sharply toward the side of the freeway. My sister yelled, “KIM, WALL!” Fortunately, I managed to steer us back into our lane. In the car behind, our mom and my nephew thought we were going to flip over. I held the wheel as steady as possible and guided us safely to the roadside.
tragedy close to home
A Tesla going over 100, teenagers without seatbelts, alcohol, two-thirty am, its a recipe for tragedy and that’s what happened last weekend in our community. A tragedy. Less than 1/2 a mile from our house said Tesla ran a red light and couldn’t make the slight turn.
my heart pounding encounter: Face to face with an enormous bear
Suddenly, amidst the serenade of chirping birds and running water, I caught sight of him - a majestic bear, his fur a rich cinnamon hue against the bright green mountainside. He was about 200 yards away on another ridge, but was enormous and walking on the same trail in my direction
nurturing resilience: an introduction to overcoming change fatigue
I remember when I thought a big work change was moving my start time from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM. Or the time hospital leadership decided employees had to park in the lot across the street instead of in the parking garage. At that time, I had no imagination for significant and impactful changes. As my career grew, those changes came, one after the other: outsourcing, insourcing, mergers, acquisitions, and seemingly unending restructuring.
life is too bloody short
I noticed him sitting across from me, slowly eating a plain doughnut and drinking a cup of steaming hot coffee. I was waiting for my daughter to come through the extra-long TSA security line. While typing away on my laptop, I heard him speak in a strong British accent, "Life is too bloody short and people don't talk much to each other anymore, do they?" I looked up at him and immediately closed my laptop.
Captivated by a kind cafe
Have you ever been captivated by something beautiful? Maybe your spouse on your wedding day? Holding a sleeping newborn? Watching an athlete win something big for the first time? As a National Park lover, I am often fascinated by nature. I could sit for hours watching bears, bison, and the occasional moose. I am rarely thoroughly captivated by something beautiful in the city; maybe I need to look more, or perhaps we are not as intentional enough in creating captivating moments and places.
